Open Source Licenses

Last updated: March 2026

OSD (Open SIEM Deployer) is built on top of industry-leading open-source security tools. We are committed to respecting and complying with the open-source licenses of all software we distribute.

Wazuh

Wazuh is a free, open-source security monitoring platform used for threat detection, integrity monitoring, incident response, and regulatory compliance. Wazuh is the first SIEM solution available on OSD.

License

Wazuh is distributed under the GNU General Public License v2 (GPLv2). When OSD deploys a Wazuh instance to your server, you receive the complete Wazuh software with all rights granted under the GPLv2 license, including the right to use, modify, and redistribute the software.

Source Code

The complete source code for Wazuh is available at:

GPLv2 License Text

The full text of the GNU General Public License v2 is available at: gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0

OSD Modifications

OSD does not modify the Wazuh source code. We use the official Wazuh packages and installation scripts. Our deployment automation applies configuration settings (firewall rules, SSL certificates, system hardening) that operate at the operating system level and do not alter the Wazuh software itself.

Your Rights

As the recipient of GPLv2-licensed software, you have the right to:

  • Use the software for any purpose.
  • Study how the software works and modify it to suit your needs.
  • Redistribute copies of the software.
  • Distribute copies of your modified versions to others.

OSD's subscription fees cover the deployment automation, infrastructure provisioning, and ongoing platform services — not the Wazuh software itself, which remains free and open-source.

What OSD Charges For

To be clear, OSD's pricing covers:

  • Automated deployment — one-click provisioning, server hardening, and initial configuration.
  • Infrastructure management — server sizing, storage allocation, and network setup on Hetzner Cloud.
  • Platform services — the OSD web application, deployment pipeline, and monitoring tools.

The open-source software deployed on your server is provided under its original license terms at no additional cost. After deployment, you have full root access and complete control over your server and its software.

Future Tools

OSD plans to support additional open-source security tools in the future (such as Splunk Free, UTMStack, and others). License information for each tool will be added to this page as they become available.
